Ride Illinois Impact Partnership
These efforts are a passion point for Kindle Point. The bicycle can solve our biggest problems, and we just have to pedal today to make a personal impact.
Problem: More people should ride bikes for transportation, recreation and health. Some might not know it yet and many of us should ride more. Why? Inactivity and isolation cause mental and physical health issues worldwide – not just in Illinois – which leads to larger community and societal challenges. Also the effects of an overbuilt automobile infrastructure have caused harm to our environment and health. Without proper, community-wide, safety education, and bicycle infrastructure, communities loose positive momentum. Ride Illinois advocates for solutions to systemic issues by enabling safer, bicycle-based travel.
Process: Apply a design thinking approach to Ride Illinois community outreach, product optimization, safety initiatives, paid, owned and earned marketing channels
Ongoing Solutions: Ultimately, gain attention to grow the community and enable greater education, frequency of bicycle-based transportation, and recreation across all local communities to help make Illinois better through biking.
30 Years & Riding
Ride Illinois partnered with Kindle Point to produce a video sharing the organization’s 30-year history, including BikeSafetyQuiz.com, community outreach, partnerships and events and many infrastructure initiatives along the way. Then we turned the handle bars towards the future to envision a greater state with more cycling in Illinois.
Strategic Workshops & Brand Values
Ride Illinois is teeming with solid values and a desire for impact many organizations would appreciate. The challenge then is focus. Kindle Point was hired to organize the brand focus and values heading towards a singular, long range 2025 goal. This goal not only helps Ride Illinois evolve, it’s also a measure that would positively impact the health and safety of a growing Illinois community of cyclists. We invited all available advocates to join a 2-day brand value workshop to ensure all voices were heard and relevant brand values emerged. The balance between clarity, inspiration and content priorities were identified and captured. Ride Illinois is indeed rollin’
2-Day Strategic Ride Illinois Brand Values Workshop
Kindle Point organized, facilitated, analyzed and recapped two half-days of virtual design thinking activities to gain perspectives from Ride Illinois staff, board members and additional statewide advocates. Leveraging Zoom and Miro all involved, collaboratively built the brand value strategy, supporting three key audience segments.
Capital One ‘Four Good Neighborhood’ Collaboration
After the Ride Illinois Brand Value Workshop, Kindle Point engaged Capital One’s Four Good Neighborhood team and regional creative volunteers to help expand marketing campaign concepts / events to build upon the new Ride Illinois strategic value direction. These ideas later informed Ride Illinois’ Regional Action Teams, on how to engage their local communities.
2020-2022 - IDOT Grant - Bike Safety Quiz Social Campaigns
Over three spring seasons from 2020-2022, Kindle Point managed paid-social media campaigns to promote BikeSafetyQuiz.com – Ride Illinois’ digital product to promote bike safety across the state. Campaigns were funded through IDOT Grants to reduce crashes and fatalities due to road sharing between automobile drivers and bicyclists. During the three-year period insights were gained through audience testing between high-crash zip codes, member look-a-likes, college-based zip codes and business-related interests.
